BŘECLAV-BUDAPEST is cca 730 km unsupported road bikepacking race from Břeclav (CZ) to Budapest (HU). The route of the race is not fixed, but includes 25 waypoints selected by the organizer, mostly natural and cultural attractions in south Slovakia and Hungary. Between waypoints, rider will have a free choice of route. All waypoints are accessible on asphalt roads (except of one, 500m gravel road leading to lookout tower Somlyo).
The route passes through Male Karpaty, Devín Castle, city of Bratislava, along the Danube, to the Panonhálma Monastery, to Lake Balaton, to Székeszfehérvár, Esztergom or Visegrád, and finishes in front of Hungarian Parliament Building in Budapest. Main route also includes a choice of using a ferry across Lake Balaton (from Tihany to Siofok, at cca 400.km).
The race has also shortened route, which measures 480 km and does not include a detour to the Male Karpaty, the area around Esztergom and Visegrad, and several other less important points on the route.

DATE OF START, TIME LIMIT
START: Friday 15th April 2022, at 8am, Břeclav (CZ)
FINISH: Hungarian Parliament Building in Budapest (HU)
TIME LIMIT: the race has no time limit, riders arrives to finish individually, without a guarantee of welcoming in finish.
PRE-START MEETING: Meeting of riders and first part of presentation will take place on Friday 6th May in the evening, in Javorník. For riders who arrive to the start on Saturday morning, there will be a second round of presentation and picking of GPS trackers from 6.30am.

FERRY THROUGH LAKE BALATON: TIHANY-SZÁNTÓD
To get a bit special experience from the race, competitors on the main route between the waypoints „Tihany“ and „water tower in Siofok“ can use a ferry that departs from the port of Tihany from 7.00 every 40 minutes, the last ferry leaving at 20:20. The ride takes 8 minutes and the price is 400 forints (approx. 2 EUR). The ticket is not part of the entry fee and is paid by everyone in the port.
If you will make 415 km in less than 23 hours and you will not want to wait for the first fferry, you can ride around the northern shore of Lake Balaton between those two waypoints. But it’s an extra 45 km, so you probably won’t help much : -D

RESTPOINTS
There will be no CheckPoints or RestPoints on the route, all riders will have to get food, drinks and shelter for sleeping by themselves.
TRACKING OF THE RACE
There will be several FotoPoints on the route, where riders will have to take a photo and send it to UltraBikers website, with an option to leave a short comment and impressions. No GPS trackers. You will get more informations about Tracking in pre-start info email.
REGISTRATION AND ENTRY FEE
To participate in race Breclav-Budapest, it is necessary to register via the form in website section „REGISTRATION„. After the payment of entry fee, the rider will be added to the starting list.
Registrations are opened from 1st December 2021 and close on 10th April 2022.
Maximum number of riders: 60
The entry fee for participation in the race is:
- registration until 15th January 2022: 20 EUR (500 CZK)
- registration during 16th January – until 31rd March 2022: 25 EUR (600 CZK)
- registration during 1st-10th April – 30 EUR (750 CZK)
The entry fee includes: gpx files with recommended route, route itinerary in pdf, racing number, UltraBikers sticker or bracelet, beer / soft drink at the pre-start meeting, vouchers for discount on spending at the Cyklosféra club (before start or after getting back from finish).
Payment for participating in a race must be transferred to the bank account: IBAN: CZ97 6210 6701 0022 1678 4675, enter your name and surname and the text „BRECLAV-BUDAPEST“ in the message for the recipient.
CANCELLATION FEES
In case of cancelling of participation from the race, paid entry fee will not be refunded, but:
- in case of canceallation until 31th March 2022 it is possible to transfer the payment once to any other UltraBikers race, without cancellation fee
- in case of canceallation after 1st April 2022, the cancellation fee 10 EUR will be deducted, the rest of payment can be transferred to other UltraBikers race
Paid entry fee can be transferred to another person at any time, without cancellation fee.
